I've mentioned this book in a previous post -- The Modern Jewish Girl's Guide to Guilt. It's a wonderful anthology of personal essays exploring various aspects of life and the Jewish woman.
It is funny, and honest, and insightful. I have picked it up, read an essay here and there, then put it down and picked it up weeks later; it's that kind of "pick-me-up" read.
Anyhow, I had the book at work to read over my lunch hour; it was sitting on my desk.
A non-Jewish co-worker passed by, spotted the book, and asked -- in a very Jewish way:
"For that you need a handbook??"

We are so mainstream that even the non-Jewish person can do a Molly Goldberg accent! Was it intentionally ironic--or does she usually talk that way????

Well, as my little Russian grandmother used to say: "It couldn't
hoyt!"
That is so funny. It reminds me of when I was studying linguistics in college, and the professor related that it's a feature of Jewish English to use the construction, "The green one, I like." or the term 'already' as in, "What do you want, already?"
Great. I'm a big fan of that book. Some of the writers write so well it hurts.
