For the first: That may be ideal, but I'm sure many bloggers will agree with me when I say that as comments begin to flow in, writing becomes at best a combination of both motives.

For the second: I have to agree that this quote is somewhat erroneous. It's far to general and ignorant of the intricasies of reading and writing to make an effective statement on how "clear" or "obscure" prose is received.
